I don't think I would be able to find anything about Nora that I wouldn't like, other than price.
With that said, I think the most I could see paying for her is about $400usd.
But worth is relative.
If I did more big caves it would be worth more, and I'd pay more.

So just go caving about 30% more and buy the RN. Sounds like a simple solution.

There must be some sort kind of rule of thumb that relates the brightness of your headlamp to the size of the passages you discover, similar to the old "Milling-Around Theory of Speleogenesis".

I was caving with someone multi level cave (not sure if that is the real name) in tn. that had a Chinese head lamp that was way brighter than the sten on max...said he paid like 99 dollars for it online it had an insane amount of lumen, like 2000 i think.

If anyone has any info on it I would like to know a bit more about it.

Not sure what light you are talking about but I have found that most inexpensive lights that are bright do not have correct optics for caving. What I mean is tunnel vision where the light does not light up around your feet unless you look down at them. This can be problematic going over breakdown piles, especially if you are chasing young skinny guys who have the correct lights. Incorrect optics will slow you down in situations like that. Bif , who make the Rude understands this and so do the people at Sten. Tunnel vision is OK for a handheld spot light to look up domes or into pits but not for a primary on your head.

Extremeophile wrote:I haven't looked carefully at the Rude Nora specs, but the Scurion I have has a max lumen output of 1450 lumens, but this maximum output isn't entirely practical. The spot and flood LEDs can be adjusted independently with 5 levels each (including off), for a total of 25 possible lighting combinations. The flood is such a broad beam that I almost always run the spot 2-3 levels lower (e.g. flood on level 3, spot on level 1) to give a balanced beam pattern.

With an self-build independent twin-beam light, I tend to do something similar - most of the time mixing in only a relatively low amount of spot to pull out the flood without spoiling it, saving spot-heavy mixes for distance work (pathfinding, pointing, vertical, etc) or walking in wet passage where a spot is useful for gauging water depth.

Thanks for the post. Was the Custom Duo a cool white or warm white ?? I know The Sten is not widely used in France as it is here in The USA but I would love to see a Sten in that mix as well.

The CustomDuo was the "old" three levels flood module (current one is 2 levels) ; LED color is "neutral"

If I cross a Stenlihgt owner, I'll try to make the same photographies with his lamp.
Same for Scurion, LedLamp IV...

With a cost of 1500 or whatever it is it better set the walls of the cave on fire on medium setting, cook my dinner and have a willing woman and a cold Belgium beer waiting for me when I get out. Most cavers this side of Bill Gates cannot justify that much for a light, most cannot even justify the cost of The Rude Nora ( well over 500 depending on currency exchange rates) . Maybe if I caved exclusively in The Sarawak Chamber three times a week my mindset would be different. Like anything else the possibilities are endless depending on how much money you have to throw at something. For most caving I am likely to get into in Indiana, Kentucky and TAG a continuous 130 lumen with a spot of somewhere around 300 lumen is sufficient.
