I crave information about this new product. I was not able to pick up a Hurricane while they were still being produced. I am very sad about this! I cannot find any info on the new light. Someone has to have some spy-shots, or maybe some half-true tabloid gossip to spread about this exciting new lamp?!!?

If you want some tabloid gossip, then here goes.

I bought the first Little Monkey to be delivered to the US. I was super impressed with it. When John finished production of the Hurricanes he had some spare parts available to upgrade my Monkey to a Hurricane. The upgraded lamp blew the original Monkey out of the water.

Based on my experience, I'd expect that the next version to appear will be just as much of an improvement as each of his new lamps have been. :)

Oh I agree, I am very excited. It is really amazing what Bif can put out these days! I am also glad to see that a previous poster can use the search function, but failed to realize I was the original poster. anyhow..... I think it is great to get some discussion going about the lamp. maybe we can get some spy shots! lol, happy reading!

The website says as soon as May (which is almost over now). I imagine that as a potential customer, you may have a little leverage over the maker... just tell him you will be spending money on a light very soon, but want to know if there is any good reason to hold out a little longer for his light. Since May is/was a possibility he should at least be done with the design phase, so he should be able to give some specs.

I never owned any of his lights, but they all appeared to be pretty solid, and an excellent alternative to the more popular lights. Looking forward to seeing his next one.

Hey its cool, I just thought it was rather amusing! I did send an email to Bif and asked him about it. I figured I would get the word out here, and maybe get bif himself to chime in with further details reserved for all of his dear friends here in the NSS . I think it is good press for Bif and his new light, and I know that they deserve it!

New lamp getting there slowly James. Machinings should be finished soon and also waiting for new optics for Cree XM-L LEDs to turn up. The optics are now available and ordered, but cause these LEDs havn't been out very long, the optics manufacturers are still playing catch up. I dont think any XM-L specific optics have existed to date (at least none that will fit the design) and I'm not minded to bodge any old optic onto lamp.

I've been watching this for a while, friend bought a Hurricane last year and I missed out. Was hoping to get a new light before expo this year, but I don't know if these are going to be ready in time!

- Is there any hope that they will be in the wild by mid July?

I don't think you can get to it from a link on the Custom Duo site but you can google it and find it. Lots and lots of good info. I can't wait to see it, too!

One interesting thing I notice is that on the Rude Nora page they seem to take several stabs at the Scurion, but then use this phrase in one of their FAQ questions (What LEDs does the Rude Nora use?).

We don't drive the LED with the full rated current, this further raises efficiency, resulting in a long lamp runtime.
