Need to try some lembas bread.
Letting the days go by / water flowing underground
Into the blue again / in the silent water
Under the rocks and stones / there is water underground.

Not exactly substance there if you plan on being underground for 6 hours, and if an accident happens, much longer............you should try packing some real food instead like CRF does at mammoth. canned anything and everything, yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. ive long since moved on from snickers and power bars. Yuck. sugar high then a crash.

Just did my first trip with them, and real food in a can is the way to go. Had an underground lunch of beefaroni, ravioli, and pears. Of course I still had a Snickers for desert.

But for long trips, I won't be going back to candy bars, granola, and beef sticks.

The other nice thing about having a real meal is I just sat down once and ate, instead of stopping for snacks here and there throughout the trip.

I find a water purifier, a jetboil and Ramon noodles handy for those 20 plus hour trips. Packing powdered gatoraid, coffee or powdered hot chocolate helps. I have packed in whole pizzas folded into empty protein supplement jars. Trail mix has good calorie to weight ratio and packs well. One thing about the purifier, it allows 1 person to provide water for the whole group. The jet boil is the bomb when you are cold, wet and tired and still have 12 hours of caving left. I 've spent 24 hours plus in Ellison's exploring and found it difficult to keep up my caloric intake to balance my expenditures. MREs are great but there is the packaging and heating pack to deal with. Ramon noodles offer calories and warmth as a bonus. I carry a large vampire pack which is now made by Onrope1 which provides plenty of room.
