2011 List of Full Flood Headlamps

Postby Bolster » Jan 24, 2011 6:54 pm

Greetings, I'm new to your forum. I'm trying to assemble a list of (mostly AA-powered) headlamps that are capable of even, full-flood lighting, as of 2011. Here's what I've got so far, care to add to the list (or take any away)?

[UPDATE: I've updated the information. Trying to post midrange (25-50) lumen and runtime specs when available.]

Zebralight H51Fw
164 lumen .9 hour; 25 lumen 12 hours. Single AA battery. 90 degree beam (not pure flood). $64.

Zebralight H51F
190 lumen .9 hour; 28 lumen 12 hours. Single AA battery. 90 degree beam (not pure flood). $64.

Zebralight H501
96 lumen 2.3 hour; 18 lumen 19 hours. Single AA battery. 80 degree flood. Price $59.

Zebralight H50 (discontinued?)
66 lumen 2:20 hr; 13 lumen 19 hrs. Single AA battery. 120 degree flood. Discontinued?

Princeton Tec Corona
90 lumens (8 leds) max, 30 hours regulated. Midrange (5 leds) lumens unknown (guessing 56), 38 hours regulated. 3xAA batteries. Around $50 or less.

Princeton Tec Apex
Has both spot and flood. Flood lumens unknown, 8.5 hours regulated.
4xAA batteries. Around $70.
(beamshot see review at http://www.flashlightreviews.com/reviews/pt_apex.htm)

Petzl Myo RXP
Spot, with built-in diffuser that reportedly works quite well.
140 lumens 50 hrs unregulated. 34 lumens 4 hrs regulated (+54 unreg). 3xAA batteries. Around $99 or less.

FoxFury Command 10 Tasker c. $61
40 max lumen for 32 max hours on 4xAA (38 degree flood)

FoxFury Command 20 Tasker, c. $81
60 max lumen for 16 max hours on 4xAA (38 degree flood)

Black Diamond Sprinter
68 lumen max, 5-7-8 (reports vary) hrs. Around $70-80. LiIon rechargeable built-in, takes 4-5 hrs to recharge. Oval lens beam. Around $70-80.

>$100 Full Flood Headlamps
Ahorton's Custom Headlamps
Petzl Ultrawide $430
FoxFury Performance Tasker c. $126. 64 max lumen for 6 hours on 4xAA (45 degree flood).
Scurion 700-1300
Little Monkey Hurricane $340
Ledlampe IV $225
Custom Idea Viper $520

I think adding max lumens and battery life on the max output would be helpful (I hate how they list the "longest battery life" upfront and you have to dig for "well ok sure 200 hours on 4 lumens but what if I want all 90!? haha)

This is a really good light review site maybe add more to your list you don't hear about http://fonarevka.ru/indexen.html

These http://www.ledcaplamps.com/ are some good lamps capable of flood but currently under remodeling.

Well, if you're going to throw the Ultrawide into the mix, we might as well add these too:

Scurion 700-1300
Price: ridiculous - insanely ridiculous

Little Monkey Hurricane
Price: $340

Ledlampe IV
$225 (just light itself)

Custom Idea Viper
$520
Happiness can be measured in mud/in².

Yes, I need to do that. I'll try to get the scoop on the more reasonably priced models, at least.
