Fenix E21?

Postby Dangerjudy » Dec 16, 2010 10:29 am

Anyone used a Fenix E21 in a cave? I'm looking for a hand-held flashlight that uses AAs, that I can mount on my helmet as a backup light. Any other suggestions?

BTW I may very well become the 'test subject' soon because I really like the looks of this light, and right now my backup light(s) consist of my caver friends being there...

That's a nice light Judy. It is cheaper than most Fenix lights mostly because it only has 2 modes and doesn't have the latest and greatest LED emitter. I've given several of the previous model (E20) away as gifts and everybody has really liked them. For caving, 2 modes is a lot easier to deal with than a multimode with annoying strobe modes.

If you upped your budget a bit, the LD25 is their most rugged 2xAA flashlight. Advantage is that it has a brighter emitter that is a neutral tint so will light up the cave more naturally than the E20.

I'm gonna go with the E21. simple is good. I will give a review once I get some use in-cave with it. It will be a backup to my Apex, on my helmet.
