Primary- Petzl Spelios (Duo 14). I really like the LED array. Max / normal / econo brightness modes.

Maximum 3.5 hours @ 67 lumens
Optimum 10 hours @ 51 lumens
Economic 63 hours @ 30 lumens

I adjusted the reflector on the halogen bulb for max spotlight. Range on the halogen is good, but the light from the bulb looks kind of yellow, dull, and feeble compared to the LED, so I run the LED 99% of the time. I did play with the halogen bulb some on an above ground camping trip, and it seems to drain the battery rather fast.

Waterproof to 5 meters. I've worn this light on three trips to Coldwater Cave. Water levels vary from knee deep to up to my ears. I haven't taken any special effort to keep the light dry, but I can't bring myself to dunk it, either.

Seems like I get better burn time than the specs listed above. Most of my trips are six to eight hours, and I've been flipping to Max more often just to see if I can run down the batteries all the way... hasn't happen yet. Really though, the light from the optimum mode keeps me happy most of the time. My batteries are the ones that came with my BC-900 charger-

or Eneloops.

I've meant to check out some of the options at Custom Duo. Might try to get something more useful installed on the halogen side.
Letting the days go by / water flowing underground
Into the blue again / in the silent water
Under the rocks and stones / there is water underground.

For my primary Rayovac Remington Arms 150 Lumen LED Headlamp RMHL4AA-B...
Yeah its a hunting type light but it takes a heck of a beating and keeps going strong...
Also was reviewed a few months ago in the NSS news...
Backup I use a Petzal Tikka 2...
Also have another Remington just in case...If you shop around you can find them for less than $50 but usually thats the price...

Flood primary: Zebralight H60W (love the light color and artifact-free beam)
Spot primary: Fenix HP10

I don’t see the eGear 400 mentioned – anyone out there tried this one?

Never heard of it. The technology is outdated, but the price isn't too bad and the max output is respectable. Runtimes could be better. Seems their 200 model might be more cave-appropriate, although that too is outdated. If they swapped out the LEDs, used higher capacity batteries and charged me only 50 bucks more I'd buy one.

My primary is currently a Mammut x zoom, soon to be replaced by either spark st6 500cw or fenix hp, or rude Nora if I can find the money.
Backup/boost spot is a fenix e21
Backupbackup/aux flood is a fenix e05.

The x zoom is awesome but not designed for the cave. Great output/runtime and the optics are superior, but I'm afraid it may break.

Just received a new helmet in the mail to use as a loaner. Set it up with a Fenix HP-10 with a Zebralight H50 to provide some additional flood that the HP-10 does not. Fenix E01 zip tied to the side for backup and resting times.
