Ehhh. They're OK for non-caving use. Better-looking once you get a bunch of mud on it...

I think it was ~$50 or so. (It was a present)

What exactly makes a "good" caving light?

What makes it good is whether you like it or not. I'd say just start caving with it and pay attention to what everyone else has.
