Modifying lights

Postby Ian » Apr 10, 2010 2:50 pm

I looked to see if I could find anything on the other topics, but nothing specific enough. I have a Yukon HL and was thinking about replacing the 1 Maxbright LED with something that is a little more powerful. Do you all think this is advisable? I have heard of people modifying the apex, and several other lights, but not the Yukon HL. Probably because it is a pretty good light by itself. If someone has done it, what LED did you use and how well did it work. I am not replacing the ultrabright LEDs that it has because I love the battery life when running those. Thanks much! Also I would love to hear of other people's modifications, I have plenty of gear with duck tape and zip ties but lights are little more delicate.

Go to Candle Power Forums for more info than you could ever want or even read on light mods. Many cavers are members there, too.

My modification to a Princeton Tec Apex was to put a blade on it so I could mount it on my helmet.
