You might be camped next to a caver if.......

Postby kvart » Sep 26, 2006 7:35 am

....after a hard rain you hear....."Hey, you kids get out from under the tarp and get back into that mud puddle"!

......the only camp light you see at night is a one watt LED.

......they have a campfire even though it's 85 degrees at night.

......their tarp kit contains only duct tape and bungee cords.

Anybody else got any good ones?

done that one -- took about 40 min. to light because the wood was wet, so we had to let it smolder before it would burn.

...campsite priorities include finding trees suitable for rigging.

...everyone walks around the campsite at night with headlamps mounted on helmets.

...a favorite form of entertainment involves a plastic bottle, water, and a little carbide. :flamed:

. . . if they don't have a tent; only a tarp

. . . if they have more beer than food in their cooler

They don't seem to care if people wander into their camp and borrow things.

Someone is duct taped to a folding chair.

Someone is left sprawled just where they fell until morning and no one seems to notice.

There are bat lights hung around the canopy.

Every time you see them camping, it is raining.

Carbide is used as firestarter in the rain.

Beer is used instead of money as a medium of exchange.

The people in the camp are walking around in the dark, and seem perfectly happy.

it is impossible to move about their campfire without hearing the crunching of aluminum from underneath one's feet...
If fate doesn't make you laugh, then you just don't get the joke.

...and the camp alarm clock consists of vertical gear being rattled as it's made ready for the day's caving - at the early hour of about 10am...
