I have to add my personal "drives me crazy" combo that some people can't seem to differentiate -- lightning and lightening...

Guilty as charged NZ! I prolly haven't used "peeps" before but am very guilty of other phonetically typed words such as "cavin". Hard for me to type normal sometimes as I don't talk normal..... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_Pe ... nia_accent What a funny read for those who've never heard anyone from there speak. I've had peeps from all over the US ask me, "Where are you from?"

Not "where ya from?"

Considering this is the joke forum, I hope folks don't think I'm picking on their spelling and grammar or regional dialects too much. None of us are perfect, and we all make mistakes (except me of course). :shhh: I'm just having fun exploring our collective inability to speak proper and smell correctly, durn it! Lurning is fun, y'know. :big grin:

Oh, come on. Goin' cavin' isn't lazy, it's specifically making a point about your state of mind. It's more work to find that apostrophe than it would be to use a g at the end of the word. Same thing as using 'em instead of them. More energy to type that apostrophe than the th that every typist learns as the first combination of letters. It is specifically chosen informality, not an error of omission. You're bein' a stick in the mud.

If you don't understand the difference between lose/loose, their/they're/there, your/you're, it's/its, weather/whether, then/than - or you use the words wierd, definately, or alot - you need to read this. And if your spelling and grammar is perfect, you'll probably appreciate it even more. Every classroom should have one of these on the wall. :big grin:

As someone said a long time ago, It's a mighty dull mind that can come up with only one way to spell a word.
This, however, is why editors get paid their princely salaries. :funny post:
