Here's a very interesting podcast on tick-borne diseases. There's not too much on Lyme Disease, but a lot on Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (much more deadly than I realized), erlichiosis, etc.

I know someone who died from Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. She went from being fine one day to being dead within a week . Ticks scare me and I live in area with a heavy tick infestation.

I was diagnosed with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever last summer. Not much fun. There are six tick borne diseases common in Arkansas now. http://www.uaex.edu/Other_Areas/publica ... A-7047.pdf
The doctor told me that several deaths over the last few years were people who ignored the problem and did not take antibiotics early.
