Gas Prices and Ike

Postby Scott Parvin » Sep 13, 2008 8:57 am

Gas prices have jumped to close to $5 a gallon here (Central Alabama) as of Saturday morning. Many of the stations are also out of gas.

Anybody having similar problems?

$4.75 is the highest I have seen here. My wife got gas yesterday at Sam's Club for $3.59 and the line was around the block. Most stations are out of gas now.

Anyone want to share a ride to VAR next weekend?

Yea, we're taking the kids to Disney World in a few days, if we can find gas to make it there...

Wow! :yikes: That's high. I'm surprised - even compared with the prices here in Alaska. Nothing seems to have changed over the last few days due to hurricane Ike or for any other reason. Over the last month or so prices have come back down to about $4.19 in Anchorage, but they're still milking over $5 up north in the more remote areas. Prudhoe Bay is currently $5.99 - the most expensive listed price in the US according to the MSN gas price website. And to think I actually refuelled my vehicle at Prudhoe Bay two weeks ago. It's the only gas station for a couple of hundred miles, so I didn't have much choice. The real irony is that it sits right on top of the largest known oil reserves in the US.

Love the sign, Scott.
