Name that owl.....

While visiting the In-laws in Bloomington, Illinois, I noticed an owl in one of thier trees in the front yard. I stopped and took a few pictures, because i have never seen an owl in the wild before like this, and especially in the midde of the city. Anyways, i was just trying to find out what kind it was. I know this is none caving related, but with all the intelligent people roaming this message board, i thought why not

Looks a lot like an eastern screech, hard to get my old eyes to focus on that photo.

Yessum, that's a screech owl. We have them here on our property....we here them every night in the summer.

The colors looked right as did location and habitat, but my eyes just would say fer sure if those were tufts I thought I was seeing. he is a purty one though.

yep, a red phase. They also come in a gray phase variety.
