He works as a cave managment specialist and started investigating geocaching after discovering them hidden at/in cave entries. He then got hooked and is now always trying to stop to look for a cache when we are going somewhere. Anyway, he is still opposed to caches in cave entries and I'm curious what other cavers think? Should geocaching be forbidden at cave entries (on public land in this case)? The basic argument is that it is 1) attracting unwanted attention to the cave entry and 2) posting the GPS coords for an entry on the web. Anyway, just curious...

If someone has the property owner's permission to place the cache, I have no problem with it at all. My wife and I have met a bunch of nice geocachers at local geocaching picnics, and even bumped into people looking for the same cache in remote locations.
We love caches that involve hiking. There is one near us that is at least a four mile hike each way to get the cache. We are planning on hitting a few caches over the comming weekend. (Too bad I won't be caving. )
