Test post for server migration

Postby wokka » May 14, 2014 3:47 pm

This is another test post for the server migration.

If you see any problems with the NSS website, feel free to reply here. I know there are issues, slowly working through the list :)

Thanks!

I think that the response that I made to the other test post that you made was erased where I said that Cave Chat was down earlier today and that when you typed the link "cavechat.org" that it gave an error message.

Yeah, I posted about it here: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16262

When I posted earlier today, I thought the database sync was done. Fun times!

Yesterday my anti virus told me that cavechat had no valid certificate and that I should not trust the site. It said it could be a fake phishing site. So I did not log in. When I used my bookmark link it took me to an alpha address rather than the old cavechat address. https://alpha.caves.org:8080/
Today my bookmark took me to an ISP login page. Will I have to login every time I want to read cave chat now? Is this address legitimate?

I'm not sure what bookmark you are using, but there are two valid links for this forum: http://forums.caves.org and http://cavechat.org

All day yesterday, I was doing tasks to resolve minor issues on the sites, a lot of it having to do with subdomains (like albris.caves.org or forums.caves.org).

Let me know if the above links work normally for you and if you need to, update your bookmarks please.

So wokka since you are knowledgable about computer programming it seems, do you know if it would be possible to increase the private message storage limit from 50 to a higher number? since I assume that this has to do with computer programming also.

Thats a setting that Mr. Grimes would have to set here in forum setup.

I'll ping him about it.

When I clicked on the links for http://cavechat.org or http://forums.caves.org, that you posted on this forum and also on the NSS main home page, both take me to the following sign in page:
https://alpha.caves.org:8080/

I think I have finally solved the problem. I did a web search for Cavechat sign in page and I used the old link that the search engine found. Then I bookmarked
the page after it came up. The log on works properly on that page so my bookmark works correctly now. But apparently the link on the NSS main page is the
one that goes to that alpha thingy. Maybe that link needs to be removed and replaced with a new one.

Thanks tncaver, I corrected about 30 links on the caves.org websites that were pointing to that old url.

If you see anything else not working as expected, please let me know.
