Ooooooh
I got to Skype with my buddy Andy aka One Amp from the UK earlier tonight
Live from the Dump in the Dales!
And I got to meet other BPC members too. Skype is totally amazingly wonderful. However, they need to make a built-in teleport feature. I totally recognized the Dump from when I was there, but it has been upgraded with yellow flowers and new fireplace! Is that sad I could spot the differences from a webcam spin-tour of the room when I was only there for 2 days 10 months ago??? hahaha Also, I learned what guiness is, and Max dropped his glass as he fell asleep and snores, and apparently some people were downright pissed when they found American money left in the wifi donation box (aka...some of what I'd left...) although apparently One Amp took it and has it in his van still.
At least someone appreciated it, I even left a Michigan quarter if I remember correctly.
Also, made a new UK contact, Dennis, who might know how to get me a cheap flight over for Hidden earth today, by pure happenstance visavie (sp?) the UK caving forum 'cause he saw a post of mine there about entering artwork at Hidden Earth. He actually comes to the US rather often, and might come to TAG fall cave-in (I was telling him about it as it coincides with his next US visit).
It's the little things that sometimes just make my day
ETA: Oh I got some random email from a headhunter in the UK asking if I was still looking for a job, because he was just handed my CV and was impressed with it.
Additionally, One Amp knows someone (a caver too, actually) who I guess runs a lab? and at least was recently hiring so he's going to pass on my CV. And that job (if it still exists) is apparently in Leeds, which is quite close to the Dales! I could totally see moving there for a bit for fun. I really do enjoy the UK.
