If I rant I should rave, right????

...I'm trying not to get my hopes up toooooo much but there was a job posting on Emory University's site for a research specialist in a neuro lab (specifically, the anesthesiology department) which I sent in my CV for last week...it was looked at and forwarded to the hiring manager, who, if ze likes it, will be calling me to set up an interview.

This is the farthest level I've gotten to so far...

Emory is in "atlanta" but really it's up by North Decatur which is north of Atlanta proper from what I can tell...which is good, I am not a city person and at least want to be out in the suburbs. I loooooooooooove the country but I'm too used to city things...especially with hobbies like capoeira (of which there is a CDO Atlanta group which is literally down the road from GA Tech) so I have come to rely on the city for things...but at least this will have me like 2 hrs from caves and country! :woohoo: And I'd finally be able to get a proper sweet tea whenever I wanted it. None of this "oh well see those packets? add some" stuff. Sugar doesn't dissolve in cold tea  also your food down there tastes so much better. Although maybe that's because it seems ya'all fry everything. HA!

ETA: TODAY IS MY ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF BEING A CAVER!!! June 16th, 2010, I set foot into my first cave :D

Ooh and I have fabric now :D time to play!
Image

1000D cordura! My best friend from childhood, her grandma is a seamstress and we recently reconnected some and I was telling her about my woes and she said get the fabric and she could make it. So uh, woot for custom cave oversuit and MUCH cheaper than buying a custom one! Also, cool colours, although I thought "violet" would be more purple and I'd call this "magenta"....ah well. I got extra so enough for some shorts and maybe some kneepads and elbow pads too :D

Ooooooh

I got to Skype with my buddy Andy aka One Amp from the UK earlier tonight :D Live from the Dump in the Dales! :D And I got to meet other BPC members too. Skype is totally amazingly wonderful. However, they need to make a built-in teleport feature. I totally recognized the Dump from when I was there, but it has been upgraded with yellow flowers and new fireplace! Is that sad I could spot the differences from a webcam spin-tour of the room when I was only there for 2 days 10 months ago??? hahaha Also, I learned what guiness is, and Max dropped his glass as he fell asleep and snores, and apparently some people were downright pissed when they found American money left in the wifi donation box (aka...some of what I'd left...) although apparently One Amp took it and has it in his van still. :D At least someone appreciated it, I even left a Michigan quarter if I remember correctly.

Also, made a new UK contact, Dennis, who might know how to get me a cheap flight over for Hidden earth today, by pure happenstance visavie (sp?) the UK caving forum 'cause he saw a post of mine there about entering artwork at Hidden Earth. He actually comes to the US rather often, and might come to TAG fall cave-in (I was telling him about it as it coincides with his next US visit).

It's the little things that sometimes just make my day :D :D :D :D :D

ETA: Oh I got some random email from a headhunter in the UK asking if I was still looking for a job, because he was just handed my CV and was impressed with it.
Additionally, One Amp knows someone (a caver too, actually) who I guess runs a lab? and at least was recently hiring so he's going to pass on my CV. And that job (if it still exists) is apparently in Leeds, which is quite close to the Dales! I could totally see moving there for a bit for fun. I really do enjoy the UK.

Am I seriously the only one who has cool things going on in their life? Dannng. Ya'all need to get out more! LOL

Uhmmm so I just had the most awesome day ever but it would probably be gibberish to most of you so I'll condense it. I got to play Mestre Esquilo (who is amazing) today for my first cord in capoeira...amazing friends both old and new, lots of awesome capoeira workshops by Mestre Esquilo and our visitors from Israel - yes, ISRAEL, and a Maculele class (type of dance) and some Samba and two others which I'm sorry to say I forget the names I will have to get them tomorrow, but both also Brazilian dances. And I had a ton of fun dancing especially the one of them, it's like the latin type dancing you see kinda and I had an amazing dance partner (it was really easy to just follow along, I've never really danced before especially not with like actual dances with actual steps and I learned quite a few of the steps and my partner couldn't beleive I'd never danced before!) weeeeeeeeeee

Seriously this day could not have been more awesome. :D

Few days ago had the best shopping trip at Salvation Army ever.
Red shirt for under one of my corsets
Rainbow skirt that is freakin' awesome
Sweater, soft and huge perfect for cold days with hot chocolate snuggled up
Blue longsleeve poly shirt
Orange longsleeve poly shirt
polypro pants (after getting them home i realized they were obviously for guys, so why were they in women's dress pants I have not a clue but they fit so who cares)
3mm neoprene wetsuit capris (could not find the top anywhere though! dangnabbit! Only halfway ready for uber coldwater caving!)

All for *drumroll* $7.50

AH-ha. Finally got around to replacing the red tubular webbing on my Pup's Pal with purple. Now the only thing left to purpleify are my cowstails. I just have to find someone with some purple dynamic not in crazy 50m or whatever lengths for sale. I've contacted OR1 and then IMO, neither has it =(

I'm down because I don't get to attend TAG. However the one good thing is I get to take my son caving one more time before he leaves for the airforce in november. Gotta pick a good horizontal trip for him.
