What do you call a Laudromat where you live?

This post in another thread got me to thinking:

I had to drive to Huntsville just to warsh my clothes at a clothes mat....

Back in Texas, we called them Washaterias (like cafeteria).. but my wife said she had never heard that phrase.

What do you call laundromats?

maybe its an accent thing, but we say laundrymat

My spellcheck always capitalizes Laundromat. It's a brand name, like Xerox. But like aspirin, I think laundromat is on the cusp of losing its brand name due to sheer ubiquity.

I noticed along the border in New Mexico and Arizona they are sometimes called Lavamats.

Actually, now that I think of the accent thing, in Texas we called them Warshaterias.

Teresa, you are giving away your age when you reference that song. I had to play "Leader of the Pack" for my daughter before I could play "Leader of the Laundromat" for her, so she'd understand that song.

they used to be called laundramats around here, but recently they are all mysteriously becoming "lavanderias".
They often sell burritos and Coronas, and most have pool tables too.

I remember years ago my wife and I drove down from Indiana in her rusty old Volvo wagon. We mostly camped out from the Smokies back to our Hoosier state along every back road I could plot out using my Tennessee and Kentucky Topo maps. After checking out Camps Gulf and Lost Creek cave we were feeling the need for some clean smelling clothes finally. We were driving around in Sparta , TN looking for one of those places , the only one we saw had recently burned halfway to the ground. So we had to ask at a store, the young grocery cashier said , " I don't rightly know where there might be another one , we just warsh our clothes at my mother-in-laws house..." " Don't Y'all live around here? "
We finally found a little " Kleaners " 2 doors down from the Sparta Fire Department.
