I was hoping it was Photoshopped, but I'm afraid it may be real.

This is actually a reincarnation of a previous thread on this, or a previous, NSS chat room forum discussing this exact same photograph. I tried to recover it using search, but couldn't get the right words I guess. It seems to me that there were other photos showing the final result and more details of the rigging. Anyone else remember what I am talking about?

 I'm betting it's at least partially Photoshopped.

The girl(?) on the right - the shadow patterns on her clothing and around the hands seem inconsistant with those in other parts of the frame. But who knows? It might be a real shot. Someone just may be stupid enough to try that...

It's a little off-topic, but if you want to see some well-detailed (almost believable) Photoshopping, check out these cool shots of army animals.

Yup. http://forums.caves.org/viewtopic.php?t=1930 The photo in the old thread looks like it may have slightly better thread

I have never found any explanation or other pics of this stunt. There is a photographer under an umbrella in the background. What's with the ugly pants?

Why would anyone care what someone is willing to do for a rush ? I guess I say that from a view of the fact that nobody said anything when my group was learnin what we had ta do in order to do it an survive.
Here's to knowledge.

I feel pleased that a photographer was on hand to document what you hope your kids won't do.

I would venture a guess that our folks thought we wuz craazy fer doin the things we did when we wuz young.

'course things is changed somewhat since I wuz what could be called young, but I try ta educate my youngin's about what I found possible an what ain't.

That photo looks sorta on the edge, personally I wouldn't do that either,
Erebus, however somathe things I did do, not all that long ago, jest plain surprises me when I think about it.

But, now we know more about what's beyond the point where others woulda said uh uh, no way, I ain't gonna do that.

Haven't we all done that ?

yers truly,

By your lingo, you grew up in the West.

And no to your question. I'm hardcore, but I'm still alive with over 1000 outdoor caving (just caving, Mountaineering I have more: with one accident to my record) trips under my belt. That pic is crazy! hOLD MY BEER! Quality! That stunt is a runaway very fast stunt!

That does look totally HAIRBALL but I bet they had this dialed in as the most efficient and safe way to set up their anchors on the detached rock monolith which probably has lots of cool sport climbs on it. That looks like New River rock to me. The pants were typical of every aspiring RockStud 10 years back or so...
