Postby CaverScott » Oct 3, 2005 3:56 pm

This guidebook is extremely rare and has gone for as much as $100  at recent caving events. Good Luck.

I am really lucky to own a copy. But, don't rely on the driving directions in the book. A lot of landmarks and roads have been changed or renamed since the book was printed.

One for the auction block

Postby caver53396 » Oct 4, 2005 12:33 pm

I know I have been saying this for awhile, but I have one that was donated to the CIG to be auctioned. I guess I need to get on this. I think asked this before, but it was on the other board...Has anyone ever dealt with a silent type auction over the throught te email? Maybe I'm thinking it will be harder to track than it will in reality.

I'll put myself on the line and promise it will be up for auction by the 18th of October. I'm caving the next two weekends.

Mark,

Auctioned just to grotto members? If the auction is for any NSS member or something, at me to it, and I will bid on it if I dont get one before then. cvr602(at) yahoo(dot)com

I'm a member of the TCS and everything, I just like to reference other things besides cordinates when I am going to the caves. TCS doesnt show how much of a hike or anything it is. I can refer to roads and things using the guidebook, instead of following a point.

to NSS members. It will more than likely be on this board and definitely will not be going a public auction site such as eBay

Ebay=locations= bad. Yeah, on this board would be a good idea, as long as no guests bid or anything.

'89 TAG NSS Guide book for sale

Postby Ernie Coffman » Oct 7, 2005 9:10 pm

Hola you all! Seeing that I have a copy and it's just sitting on the shelf, I'll put my '89 NSS Guide book (TAG) up for sale, with a week's silent bidding to end on Oct. 14th.

Since Cave602 said he'd go fifty bucks...and Scott indicated that it was going for a hundred bucks, let's say that the opening bid is at fifty bucks and do the bidding through email, off-line, so we don't rag on Chat.

'89 NSS Guide Book (TAG) up for bid until this Friday

Postby Ernie Coffman » Oct 9, 2005 3:32 pm

The first bid is in on the '89 NSS Guide book, so if you're thinking of bidding, you might want to think about getting in your bid. We'll let the winning bidder know on Friday, or Saturday the latest. This is the TAG guide book that went for a hundred bucks at the last convention, so...think seriously folks. By the way, if you didn't see my other notice, it's in pristine condition! Any questions, contact me off of Cavechat, so we don't tie up cyberspace.

I just realized that I read what you were looking for wrong and I have a 1989 SpeleoDigest to auction off. Which I will still get up for auction by the 18th.

Update on bidding for the '89 NSS Convention Guidebook

Postby Ernie Coffman » Oct 13, 2005 8:37 pm

Just so folks know what's happening, as there is only one more day left on the bidding for this '89 NSS Convention Guidebook, the bid has gone to $150. If anyone wants to continue bidding, that would be fine, but...the bidding closes tomorrow at 9:06 p.m. Pacific Daylight time.

Wow! $150! That's more than I paid to attend the '89 convention.

I wonder what it will be worth in another five years? Hmmm, maybe by then it'll be so valuable I can sell it and retire! Oh, wait, in five years I'll be 62 and eligible to retire anyway.

One thing's for sure: I'll be hiding that guidebook pretty good from now on when parked on the side of the road in TAG.
