Thanks for posting this information. I had read a newspaper article on this situation that was posted here and was upset. The photos of the cave just sicken my heart. I will be sending emails as a concerned earthling.

SPAET Cave (pronounced spa-eth, which means "bear") is in conflict with the $5-billion Bear Mountain Resort project. The project is described as the largest development of its kind in BC with two hotels, two Nicklaus-designed golf courses and plans for 5,500 homes.

In May 2006 the local press reported the developer's supposed point of view as follows:

"You know, if we want to blow up a cave and put up a hotel we will."
