I spoke with the seller, he says the formation was removed over 40 years ago. Here is the link to the auction:

Well the Nevada Cave Protection Act was created in 1959, so even if these items were removed from the cave 40 years ago, its still a violation.

Anyone going to report it to ebay?

Crystal Cave is actually a half mile from the Nevada line and into Utah, which has no cave law. The Salt Lake District BLM is aware of the auction.

The link to alert Ebay of forbidden items is this: http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/artifacts.html

He also has another item from "A Cave" posted as well.

What a maroon! But maybe he's got those unicorn helectites that's been missing for a long time.
Hey Dale, you noticed the guy's name was "Chipeta?" Hmmm... you think he might be the "DC 2006" vandal ??

Still there, so I also reported it as a banned item.

Hopefully they'll pull the auction soon.

ok i just went thru 4 pages of stuff that this guy is auctioning and anything from a cave or a cave formation i reported to ebay. He had formations out of Wind Cave and some calcite angel wings from a Nat'l forest somewhere, so hopefully ebay will do something bout it and stop him.

feel free to also send ebay some nasty grams bout him. its easy, just go tot he bottom of the auction of the item, click on report this item, and then you choose baneed items, the next box choose artifacts and then in the next cave formations. (may not be the exact wordings but you wil find it) and then you just click on contact custmer service and it automatically puts that item # in an e-mail. that's it.

ok i decided to do my second good deed for the day (1st was rescueing a turtle crossing the road this morning), i got on ebay and searched all cave formations for sale and reported all of them. I figured if it was a legal sale then ebay could make that call, I'd just bring them all to their attention.

some i did not report were cuz they confused me (I am finishing up a bottom of vino right now), they were from a mine, something called cave in rock, in Ill...is that a cave? some from Illinios know anything bout it

If I understand their terms, legality doesn't matter... they claim to disallow ANY cave formations by their terms of services, so it all should be disallowed.

Hopefully the multiple reports will get their attention.

Well, there is a cave in Cave-In-Rock State Park- thus the name, but there is also the town of Cave In Rock, IL- adjacent to the park. That area of Illinois contains many old fluorite mines, so I'm curious if the Cave-In-Rock stuff you saw was fluorite crystals.

Fluorite is pretty cool stuff. I've seen some amazing collections that former mining engineers had put together over the years. We've been to some old mine dumps on Shawnee National Forest land and have found some nice sparkly bits.
