Belize Biospeleology and exploration

I am currently writing a grant proposal for a biological inventory of a cave/cave system in Belize as well as filming the cave and possibly doing some surveying/mapping. I am having a hard time getting anyone from the government of Belize to respond to my emails and I was wondering if anyone on here knows who I should contact. I am also just an undergraduate student with a Biology major and geology minor. I have experience caving but not much research experience. I was wondering if anyone had any words of advice or knows anything about caves/cave biology in Belize in general. Thanks!

Check with Barb MacLeod in Texas. She did Peace Corps work there a long time ago, but she might still be of use.
