Six New Species - Cumberland Plateau Caves

Dr. Julian Lewis published his recent research paper describing Six New Tennessee species on zootaxa Nov. 2005. The abstract & excerpt (PDF; 10KB) free but the full article (PDF; 290KB) requires a subscription http://www.mapress.com/zootaxa/

The six new species that were described and illustrated: Pseudotremia barri, Pseudotremia garlandae, Pseudotremia hollidayi, Pseudotremia manni, Pseudotremia roebuckorum, and Pseudotremia wallaceae.

Hmm, those names sure do sound familiar. Especially, "roebuckorum." Any relation? :kewl:

Oh you might just be thinking about the "cocktail"...roebuckorum. :big grin: 1 oz rum, 1 oz vodka, 1 oz gin, 1 oz tequila, juice of 1 lemon, twist of lime & splash of coke. :toast:

Don't let Lynn snow you on this. The species are named for Lynn and her husband Brian (Roebuckurum), NSS member and cave conservationist Heather Garland of The Nature Conservancy, NSS caver Thany Mann, and former NSS President Thomas Barr. Congrats to all! The other two are named for a TNC Benefactor (Wallace) and TNC employee Cory Holliday.

I told Jerry (Dr Julian) Lewis I'd pay him $100 if he named one after me instead of Thany, but for some reason Jerry declined my offer. :tonguecheek:
