unknown formation

Postby devil dog grotto » Jul 10, 2008 8:42 pm

this formation looks like a moon crater or a meteor crater. it is when water drips on to rock or clay and forms a crater. if you need a pic send me an e-mail jtmacdougal@aol.com :cavingrocks:

It is called a splash cup, and can form in clay or calcite which dissolves from the impact of the drip.

They are quite common.

When you click reply, and type in this box that I am typing in now, below it on the left is a link that says "ADD IMAGE TO POST"

YOu click on that, select the file from the folder its in, and it attaches it.
