Hazards in Karst Areas: Call for Papers

Postby Cheryl Jones » Jan 3, 2008 10:57 am

Dear colleague,
this message is a reminder to invite you to submit an abstract to the session

"Natural and Anthropogenic Hazards in Karst Areas"

You have only few days left (the Abstract Deadline is January 14, 2008).

The session (no. NH8.01) is included in the Natural Hazards Program of the General Assembly of the European Geosciences Union (EGU), to be held in Vienna (Austria) from April 13 to 18, 2008.

Abstracts should be submitted through the EGU website at
http://meetings.copernicus.org/egu2008/ ... tract.html

Info on the Natural and Anthropogenic hazards in karst areas session is at:
http://www.cosis.net/members/meetings/s ... &s_id=5226

The website also contains detailed information about the meeting. More information in http://meetings.copernicus.org/egu2008/

As last year, at the meeting there will be also another session devoted to karst, and specifically to Karst Geomorphology.
Info on the Surface and subsurface karst geomorphology session is at:
http://www.cosis.net/members/meetings/s ... &s_id=5511

Every year, we publish a selection of the contribution presented as a Special Issue of an international journal (in the last years: a special issue of NHESS: Natural Hazards and Earth System Sciences; special Publication 279 of the Geological Society of London; special issue of Engineering Geology, in press).

This year we have the intention to prepare a special issue on karst geomorphology and hazards in one of the major peer reviewed geomorphological or speleological journals, selecting around 20 of the most representative papers presented during the sessions.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact myself m.parise@ba.irpi.cnr.it
I look forward to receiving abstracts from you, and to seeing you in Vienna

Please inform other colleagues interested in karst studies about this session.

Sincerely yours
Mario Parise
