Hi,

Check out the damn interesting article on giant carnivorous centipedes at http://www.damninteresting.com/?p=605. They link to a video of a centipede hanging from the ceiling, snatching a bat out of mid-air, and chowing down.

Glad we don't have those suckers here in our California caves.

"The alarmingly massive centipede can, however, cause symptoms such as local sharp pain, swelling, chills, fever, weakness, and uncontrollable running-away-and-screaming."

That last part would be me. Small bugs are fine. Even mid-size are alright. But these....

Oh my god...
"Adults commonly reach lengths of over thirty-five centimeters– the length of a man's forearm."

Note to self, NEVER go caving in the Amazon jungle.

we do have stinging centipedes down here, but I dont think they are cave dwellers. I tend to give all centipedes a wide berth.

One of my friends went to one of the islands in the south pacific and he has a picture of a giant centipede that had just caught a lizard.
