(Greensboro, NC-AP) July 28, 2006 - They're not in the belfry, but UNC-Greensboro has a problem with bats making a home on campus.

A colony is getting comfortable at the student recreation center, and at least two have tested positive. The school hired a pest elimination service to remove them.

University spokesman Steve Gilliam says since bats are a protected species that can't be trapped, the contractor will install screens that will allow the bats leave the top of the building but won't let them back in.

It's estimated that as many as 50 bats are living at the top of the building.

Ha, I like the way they say "tested postive" without saying for what. Presumably it's rabies but, who knows, maybe it's herpes or performance-enhancing drugs.

Or they found two bats with good attitudes.
