What is this?

Postby bradyfl » Mar 19, 2014 8:41 pm

I do not know much about the subject so I figured someone in here would. I found this about 30' away from a cave entrance in Florida, I hit it with my foot and knocked it over. It was by dumb luck I found it.

Looks like a chunk of crystalline calcite- try a bit in acid and it'll fizz if it is.

Oh..........very pretty !!! Yes, it does look like calcite crystals.

Might be a part of a cave formation that somebody brought out of the cave and left there.

Or maybe it was where part of the cave used to be and has collapsed or eroded away.
