rams horn gypsum

Postby peterson » Sep 26, 2019 1:32 pm

I am a Geology professor and my students have been asking how rams horn gypsum forms. As we sort it out we wonder if anyone has seen this habit of gypsum forming on a horizontal surface. All the photographs we can find of this formation in place shows them on the walls or ceilings. Any images or information of gypsum growing up from the floor in a rams horn shape is most welcome. thanks

Suggest you contact Dave Bunnell, editor of NSS NEWS and producer of several cave books. He has an amazing collection of photos of cave formations.
