I registered three days ago at #534. Just checked the pre-registration list and as of late this afternoon the registration was up to #636!. Tomorrow's deadline for price increase brought people out of the woodwork.

At about 5:50 this afternoon I was unable to register. It kept saying I exceeded my alloted 1 hour of time to register. I do not type THAT slow :P

Very frustrating.

update:

It works fine in IE and not at all in Firefox. Poor coding, IMHO.

I passed this along, and got this in return:

Thank you noting this problem. I have contacted Jeff Depree about it. He built on Andy Niekamp’s fine work to create the on-line registration system. Jeff and others have worked many hours creating and rigorously testing the system. However, like all best efforts, gremlins creep into the works and so problems inevitably occur. At the bottom of the registration page is the following note.
“Questions or problems with the online registration web pages? Contact Jeff DePree - jdepree@ufl.edu

If any of you have problems with the system, please take that note to heart and contact Jeff. Send him a detailed description of the problem. We want to make on-line registration as easy and effective as reasonably possible and need your help to fight the gremlins.

I registered a month ago. It took a while to go through all the options, but I experienced no technical problems at all (using XP/IE7 as usual).

I suppose I have a registration number, but I have no idea what it is. The whole numbers thing doesn't really mean much to me anyway.

ICS should be fun. At least I won't be camping this time! :banana_yay:

Edit - I found my registration number online. Whoopee.

Unless things change radically, I won't be able to make Kerrville. A little thing called work scheduling....

Usually I'm not into convention accessories, but I would be interested this year, especially the publications and a pin. How does one go about preregistering/paying for/receiving these items when I will will not be there?

I have the same problem. I just switched jobs and won't have the vacation time to take off for a 10+ day trip. However, with the current economy I'm just glad to be working.

The ICS folks are looking into this. When they make a decision, they'll (I'll) let you know.

OK, here's the answer:

“Someone asked if they can buy ICS items (pins, publications, etc.) if they cannot the ICS. The answer is “yes and no.” The ICS is not set up to ship items or to charge for shipping. Everything will be shipped from the manufacturers to Kerrville and stored briefly until opened at the ICS. All items not sold at the ICS will be available for sale through the NSS Bookstore after the ICS.”

2009 NSS/ICS Convention needs Security folks

Postby Ernie Coffman » Mar 4, 2009 12:55 pm

The 2009 NSS/ICS Convention needs Security folks, as usual. First of all, it'll be an easy chore, but somebody has to do it, right? We need men and women--No kids! People that can answer questions and direct traffic if need be. People that won't lose their cool--even though the temperatures in the air will probably be quite hot. Mike Frazier is off caving, so I'm doing the sign-ups for this July, but to make things run smoothly, we need to get you signed up now, so we can make out our schedule.

You'll get a nice t-shirt out of putting in some time to make the convention go more smoothly. Mike said that you earn one by doing four hours on THE gate--notice, only one gate! And, four hours roaming around the campus, which should be pretty cool work. You don't have to do all eight hours at once, so that's why we need to get volunteers to sign up now, so we can arrange the time slots and such.

Contact me off list, please. Thanks a bunch!

Seriously, Ernie. Try a little harder.

So true. What's likewise funny is that as a moderator, I can't figure out how to move Ernie's and your posts to the other fourm. We'll work on it.
