So...you've went and gone vertical? If not, be careful at Cemetery, that first step is a long one. 153 ft. :yikes: :big grin:

yup we went and gone vertical. Finally did Pipeside and the Keyhole in Stephens Gap.. the little through trip too in the back of the cave. We've been doing a lot of practice in the backyard too... 2-3 nights a week at least on our little rig.

Is there a prize for the slowest climber? :big grin:

I'll be there and hopefully be able to get a certain Mr Cuddington's autograph on the book I have about him!!

I will be leading a trip to Raulston's Pit as soon as I do my climb in the contest. There will be a sign-up sheet at the SCCI Booth for the trip.

Friday during the cave-in I need a nice easy horizontal beginner's cave to take my newbie boyfriend to, anyone going anywhere good that we can tag along?

Have you pre-registered for the 31st Annual Cave-In?

If not, remember the pre-registration deadline for the 31st Annual Cave-In
is fast approaching. Registration forms must be post marked by September 1,
2008 to receive the pre-registration discount. This link
http://tagfallcavein.org/hosting/dcg/ca ... s/2008.pdf
will take you to the page to download a pre-registration form.

Pre-registration will save you $10.00 per person. Please note that all
primary registrants must be NSS members. Non-NSS members may be
registered as a guest of an NSS member. An NSS member may only
register/sponsor 3 non-NSS members.

Please note the registration times. Registration opens at noon on
Thursday, October 9 and will close at midnight. Friday hours are 8 AM
until 2 AM. Saturday registration hours are 8 AM - 4 PM. If you arrive
after registration closes for the day you will not be allowed in until
registration reopens the following day. When planning your arrival
remember the Cave-In site is in the Eastern Time Zone.

There will be a Caver's Choice Photo, Map, and Art Salon at the DCG
Booth on vendor's row again this year. So, now is the time to start
thinking of your entry. Bring your entry to the DCG Booth. The DCG Booth
will once again offer many activities for the kiddies and adults alike.

Friday night's entertainment will be an accoustical jam around one of
the fire rings on vendor's row.

Saturday night we will have a little Homemade Jam. What else needs
to be said?

I know gas prices have prevented a lot of us from attending the events
we would to like this year, but, this is the Cave-In. .....and gas
prices are dropping! All are welcome!

Please feel free to re-distribute this message to all pertinent
caver forums.

I think this is a great move. Bring it front and center. Get more people involved and watching and interested. It would be really cool if something exciting happened right before the bonfire lighting. Like maybe Cuddington demoing 3-4 systems. Or maybe hang two ropes and run some head to head competitions--Berta vs. Tim, etc.

Pre-registration comment

Remember your pre-reg must be postmarked by Sept 1st BUT . . . Sept 1st is Labor Day and a postal holiday so plan accordingly.

I'm so looking forward to the Cave-In. It is my favorite event of the year (of course living 1.5 hours from the site may have some bearing on that). :bananabat:

Hey, are there different classes for the climbing contest. I only use prussiks, so I would like to give it a try as long as Im not trying to keep up with the froggers and walkers. That would be amazing to see someone beat em on knots.

Climbing contest info: http://www.caves.org/section/vertical/conts.html

The record for 30 meter knots is only 3 seconds slower than record for 30 meter frog (sit-stand).
