The weblinks to the promotional video-

rtsp://dugcaves.com/dugcaves/2007nssconventionvideo.rm
rtsp://dugcaves.com/dugcaves/2007nssconventionvideo2.rm

Don't work. I changed the "rtsp" to "http" and it still doesn't work.

Doh.

You can see it via download on the NSS Convention Website.

http://www.caves.org

Then click on 2007 NSS Convention (right side)

Or, just click on "Convention Info" on the top of this page (blue buttons across the top).

Too bad the videos are in Real Player format (.rm). I'd like to watch them too, but Real will never live on my computer again. I can't say anything nice about Real Player.

I sent a note to the convention organizing committee to alert them of this problem. I suspect it will be fixed very quickly. Just hang tight, it is worth the wait!

As I understand it from the Chairman (Dave), this web page will only function properly if you have Real Player installed on your machine. So it doesn't work for me either (at work).

I hope we can all get together at the Howdy Party. I've been looking at signage.

I have a version of RealPlayer that was downloaded this weekend and is functioning correctly.

I've tried connecting to the site with Firefox 1.5 and IE7. Neither can connect to the site, but both browsers can open Real media files properly.

One of three things might be the cause here-

1) The rstp protocol requires an RTSP server- maybe something changed at the dugcaves.com server.

2) The dugcaves.com webmaster may have moved the file.

3) Maybe there is a typo in the URL.

John,

What version of real player are you using? We are trying to bird dog the problem.

I am using RP 8, build 6.0.9 and it works for me at my work desktop and on my personal laptop.

Also, did your Grotto get a copy of the mailed out DVD?

Try This

Hey John,

I am the DUG webmaster. I agreed to upload the Convention video files to DUG’s web site to save space on http://www.nss2007.com and because DUG’s web hosting company supports streaming media.

The URL’s you posted are correct, the video file was not moved and the DUG web site does indeed support streaming media.

I can assure that the Convention video plays just fine if you have the correct software, your network connection permits the streaming media traffic/protocol and you have adequate bandwidth. The video plays fine for me and others.

I placed a copy of the video here:

http://www.dugcaves.com/2007nssconventionvideo.zip

This link won’t stream the video to you but it should allow you to download it as a 34 MB zip file. Unzip it and you should be able to play it.

I hope this helps.

Here's my version's info-

Version 10.5
Build 6.0.12.1509

I don't have a firewall running, and I have a Covad DSL connection with a static IP.

Weird.

The shortest drive I'd have for a grotto meeting is around 200 miles one way, so I don't make it to too many grotto meetings ;-)

Thanks for the file, BTW, Andy!

Looking for cheap, AIR CONDITIONED lodging at NSS 2007?

Postby spudlunker » May 22, 2007 11:05 pm

I rented one of the cabins and Marengo Cave, just a few minutes from the convention site. There are still available bunks. Let me know if you're interested!! :kewl:
