International Bat Film Festival

Postby Alex Sproul » Apr 25, 2011 9:08 am

:bananabat: The First Annual International Bat Film Festival is set to be held on Saturday, April 30, 2011, at the Explorers Club in New York City. Hosted by Richard Wiese, the current (and youngest ever) President of the Explorers Club, this all-day event is intended to benefit bat conservationists working to save bats from White-Nose Syndrome.

The Festival will include screenings of the (pre-judged) winning bat films in 10 categories. The day will also feature award presentations to a number of luminaries in bat research and conservation, and a number of lectures by presenters that include Dr. Merlin Tuttle and our own WNS Liaison Peter Youngbaer. There will also be a bat house demonstration, with live bats. And of course, Speleobooks will be there with bat books, trinkets, and toys.

For more information, please see the press release at http://caves.org/WNS/IBFF.pdf and the Web site at http://www.batfilmfest.com/

Apparently lunch will consist of a wide variety of the most popular bat recipes for both entrees and ordeurves selected from past issues of the Huntsville Grotto Newsletter. Many served with powdered sugar as a garnish. :big grin:
