I have a student who is working on a research project related to the involvement of microbes in speleothem formation. Unfortunately, tracking down the relevant papers is a bit of a nightmare, so I’m hoping someone could help with these:

Dublyansky, Y.V. and Pashenko, S.E. (1997) Cave popcorn: An aerosol speleothem? Proceedings of the 12th International Congress of Speleology 12:271-274

Thrailkill, J.V. (1965) Origin of cave popcorn. NSS Bulletin 27(2): 59

Just in case someone wants to get rid of older copies of the NSS Bulletin/Journal of Cave and Karst Studies, I would more than happy to find a home for them in the Northern Kentucky University library collections.

Yvonne Droms found the popcorn paper in Speleological Abstracts, a great reference.

The Bulletin is too old to be included, but as you say it will be in the NSS Library, and Bill T. can make a photo copy of the paper.
