Did you? This is where I went. No bats and no WNS. Just a cave, and a nice one.

That looks like a nice cave. What cave was it?

I went caving. I went to Cagles Chasm and had a great time!

This is a seldom visited horizontal cave on private property. Treat your landonwers good.

Now that we see less good weather it seems caving trips are far and few between, but I dragged myself up to Cave city to help haul more buckets of dirt out. Where's that huge cavern and miles of walking passage? I know, I know, keep digging and we'll create it :) It really was a fun day with S&P excavation. Scott and Paul installed a new section of track extending the digging range even further! Look forward to the next one.

Cool looking dig Captnemo. Very interesting track for hauling out dirt. I'd like to know more about that one. Good luck with
it. Hopefully there will be borehole around the corner.

I think this may end up being the best thread on the whole forum! Thanks TN.

Well, not over the weekend, but I made trip #2 to Maquoketa Caves (Iowa) last week. Saw some new things and had plenty of fun.

The main part of Dancehall Cave is closed over the winter to protect hibernating bats, but everything else was open. One lady was grumbling about the closed part... I overheard her say something about "stupid bats."
Letting the days go by / water flowing underground
Into the blue again / in the silent water
Under the rocks and stones / there is water underground.

Don't feel guilty for caving. Ive done 35 trips so far this year, most 8-10+ hours, with 6 weekends left in the year. ;)

As for posting local trip reports and pictures here, do people actually do that? If you want, I can post a few if you guys really want something to read/see some pictures.

Leading 15 people through missouri's #5 cave this weekend and bouncing the pit entrance to missouri's #1 cave on sunday. I just didn't figure anyone on the national level gave a crap what goes on locally. Granted i cant post anything about our project cave, but these trips aren't in "secret" caves

hey now... you guys can post pictures and a few paragraphs of lies and half truths cant you. No need to draw us a map and give us the double secret pass code just some nice sanitized real life caving adventure!
