Small Dull is another cave I always wanted to visit, but never got a chance to before it closed. Another Bloomington cave I like (but did not put on my list) is Leonard Springs Cave. My aunt and uncle owned it in the late 1950's-early 1960's (though I didn't visit it until the early 1990's).

Alright, Waynes is off my list!!! On Saturday it claimed my coveralls, pack and 12 hrs. of my weekend. We didnt even make it to camp 4!!! Im pretty sad about my pack. I loved that thing. Im kidding, I still love that cave, and always have a good time there, but it is very hard on equipment. So leave your lucky pack at home so you dont ruin it!!!

I have turned down several invites by people extolling the "good parts" in the back. I figure they are the rewards for the suckers...I mean cavers who do that crawl...twice! Hopefully someone will install a drilled "rescue" entrance someday into more reasonable passage.

I highly recommend a swago pack BTW.

I'm all for drilling a new entrance. Maybe I'de still have two good knees. We are suckers who just want to say we been to camp 4 and back.lol

My turn to chime in...

Sullivan (for the diversity)
Doghill-Donohue (love the natural bridges and nostalgic reasons)
Buddha (where else can you go in Buddha and come out Christian, oh yeah neat formations!)
River Cave (600' boom passage, lovely boat ride, crawdads and cavefish)
Waynes' (Helectite Holler and Camp Two)

Honorable Mention
Lost River (still getting tastes of this one)
Bronson/Donaldson (haven't been there in awhile and need a refresher)
Shaft (first vertical experience)
Saltpeter (some unique history to been seen)
Waterfall (Henderson Park, want to do this sometime besides winter)

As Mike has said, some of these have very limited access, but still have great memories.

Waynes had been the nemesis of one of our grotto members for a long time, with him vowing "never to go back". So when we hit Camp 4 (without Troy, unfortunately), we took a group photo and photoshopped him in the honorary sense.

I'm surprised Laura didn't list Sullivan five times in a row!

And I'll also chime in for Small and Dull. Always had a soft spot in my heart before it was closed.

Hey, Shaft was my first vertical cave too!! Thats cool. I hope to go back soon.

Oh yeah, missed that one! Still, only one vertical cave on my list is surprising.

I doubt the IKC is very keen on drilling another entrance.

Aw shoot, it aint that bad. I stopped counting a long time ago when I had logged 7 miles (one way) in the crawlway alone! I must admit though, on my last trip to Waynes I blew out my left knee and will not do it again, EVER. But thats just me...so it goes.

I always thought the crawl was overrated. Still, I haven't been there in many years, and I'm not as young as I used to be! I might have a different impression if I went back now!

Besides, the cave beyond the crawlway is worth the trip.

Do you know if the culvert entrance to Donehue still exists and is usable? I've done Doghill/Donehue about ten times, but that was years ago. I would like to take my son, who is now old enough, but don't want the partial bathtubs from the River side entrance.
