Favorite Indiana Caves

There has been some discussion about favorite Indiana caves in another forum, so I thought I'd start a new thread about it.

Here are my top five Indiana caves (in no particular order):

Sullivan Cave
Queen Blair
Wyandotte Cave
Binkley's Cave
Doghill-Donohue Cave

It was tough coming up with five as there are several others I had to think hard about. Here are my "honorable mentions":

Buckner's Cave
Shiloh Cave
Reeves Cave
Salamander Cave
Gory Hole
Marengo Cave (primarily the new discovery section)

Unfortunately, some of these caves are closed now.

Mike

Mike Hood wrote:I done it once [Sullivan Rise Trip] many years ago, although we did not do the circuit around it. I only tried the Crevice Connection once and could not get through. I'm too tall, and my legs don't bend at the right place to make the "Z bend" just before you pop out near the North Y. :yikes:

I've heard that about the Crevice Connection. We came at it from the Mud Room the first time and couldn't get through. The next trip in went in from the Flood Route side I believe, but I wasn't there.

I havent been caving very long, but long enough to get a top 5 list.

1 Shaft Cave
2 Sullivan
3 Buckner
4 Donnehue
5 Waynes

This list may get shuffled the more caves I go to, but that is the current version.

Heiser's Mystery Well
Boone-Cannonball Cave

Wow. All my favorite Indiana Caves are horizontal. Who'da thunk it?

I was about to say the same thing, but you beat me to it! I haven't been there yet, but I hear it gets your ascenders muddied up pretty good! :yikes:

I haven't been there yet, and have passed several opportunities :big grin: One guy told me he couldn't even see his ascenders. :yikes: He was climbing with mud balls.

Ok, it's about time I chimed in...

Donahue (#1 for it's ease and enjoyability)
Waynes (beyond the crawlway!)
Buddah
Shilo
Small Dull
King Leo

This list is subject to change w/o notice. My favorite is surely one I've yet to discover, I know it's out there...waiting to be found.
