Pinson Cave, Pinson, Alabama

Postby steeley » Jul 25, 2008 1:02 pm

I am looking for any information about Pinson Cave, Pinson, Alabama. I grew up in Pinson, and visited the cave with friends as a child many times. I am very interested in what was found during the archaeological investigation. I know that the cave was used by early native Americans. Any information or pictures you have or know of would be greatly appreciated.

I believe I know where Pinson Cave is if my gps cords are correct and it is located in someone's yard. It wouldn't hurt to ask the homeowner if you can access it, but as far as the archaeological search goes, I know nothing about that. It does sound rather interesting though as I grew up in that area. (Now living in Springville.)

Pinson Cave is closed by the landowner. He is very apprehensive about visitors and lives less than 100 feet from the entrance. I will send you a PM.

A friend of mine grew up in pinson. close where the cave was located but he cant remember to safe his life where it is now. He said he use to go in it when he was a small kid. I actually knocked on a few doors and the people who i talked to were very friendly but didn't know for sure where it was.

Very interesting! Probably a good cave to stay away from though.

The cave is very small. I mean VERY small. If you approach the landowner (house just left of the cave looking uphill), he may agree to allow you to visit. :cave softly:

Yea I've seen pics of the cave, saw the landowners doing yard work by the entrance several months back, thats how I finally located it, saw it from the road.

By the way Scott, I saw you at Gyros about a week ago.
