Relocating to Fort Campbell, Ky/Clarksville TN

Postby rchrds » Oct 4, 2005 2:55 pm

Hey gang- just found out that our caver family will be moving to N.Tennessee/S Kentucky in December and we will be looking for a smallish house somewhere between Clarksville and Nashville- I gotta drive to Campbell every day, and C will be working in Nashville- It's a long shot, but anyone know of any good cave centric places that we should look for in that area? Anyone got a house with a 10 mile system with sumps in the back yard they wanna sell?

Thanks!

I know a caver in Clarksville, Tennessee that is selling his house. He is on the board, and will probably post something about it tonight when he reads your post. It is within 10 minutes or so of Ft. Campbell. I will let him tell you about it.

You have no idea how lucky you are!
There is ,as CVR602 mentioned,a house for sale that meets every one of your needs.

How good are the caves here?
You can use the SCUBA gear without ever getting close to a sump.

We have it all, booming borehole, booming death breakdown, blowing caves, long stream crawls, rooms full of pretties, rooms full of pretty scary ALR's,we even have pits.
It ain't the plateau, but we don't have to get up early.

The best part is that there is still hundreds of square mile of karst with few known caves, all within a 30 minute drive from my house. 8)

Ahahaa...

and there are also cavers nearby who are more than willing to take you on survey trips, in a cave less than 10 minutes from the aforementioned house.

In fact
There is a shortage of cavers, so look us up when you get here!

har har- I turn in a few thousand feet of sketch at Fern and now I'm everybody's sketch bitch? har har har

That's all good- I'm really looking forward to working a new area, and I know of a bunch of stuff around M'boro that I want to take another look at. C is excited as well- as long as I can not be constantly deployed.

On a side note- for another caver- C (wifey and better caver than me) is a marine biologist working in water quality (fresh and salt) anyone know of anybody looking for biologists in the Nashville/Clarksville area?

Thanks!
