A dream position awaits the right caver in New Mexico

Postby Ernie Coffman » Jun 2, 2016 4:46 pm

What a great opportunity for some young whipper snapper who loves caves and wants to protect them and enjoy them at the same time. Wowee! Ah, to be young and sprightly! Application is actually one of the attachments, which is larger than the application that's on the description of the position. Good luck! If this doesn't work, which it probably won't, then email me and I can forward you the letter with the two attachments. :kewl:  :cave softly:

Hi All,

This important cave resource position was posted on May 26th. Bjorn Fredrickson, the USFS Region 3 cave person requested that the job request be widely distributed in the caving community. Position specifics are attached.

This is the cave specialist position for the High Guads in New Mexico. Please apply if you are interested. Apologies for this coming out on multiple lists.

Thanks,
Ray

Hi Ray,

You may already have received this info about the Cave Specialist opportunity on the Lincoln NF to fill behind Jason Walz, though if not, please be aware of this opportunity! If you’d also be willing to share this information widely among the folks you know who are involved in the caving community in AZ, NM, and anywhere else you’re working (I recall hearing you mention WA on several occasions, for instance) I’d much appreciate it – we all in the Region here want to find someone great to work with partners and move the cave program forward.

The Outreach Notice for our Lincoln National Forest Cave Specialist Position (vice Jason Walz) was posted on the Outreach Database today. Please help us share this opportunity far and wide. Interested candidates are encouraged to contact Rhonda Stewart for additional information about the job or community of Carlsbad.

This position had previously been outreached at the 7/9 grade levels but we are anticipating that classification will eventually rate the duties required in this position as equivalent to GS-11 work. With the expectation of a grade increase we felt it was necessary to Outreach again at the expected grade level.

I don't have a clue on when the position will be posted, as you asked. The link is there, so write to them and find that info out...and if you find out something, provide the answer here, as others might be interested.

To anyone interested: This position has yet to be posted and open to applicants. The original job description was altered a few months ago which in turn rendered the position a new GS level with a different pay scale. As you can imagine such changes must be met with certain formalities that can be rather time-consuming. The posting of the position is the responsibility of the HR department and at this time it is unclear as to when It can be expected on USAjobs, but applicants are encouraged to make profiles on the site (if they haven't already) and to attach any relevant documentation in the meantime.
May the odds be ever in your favor. :woohoo:
