The NSS Bookstore just added the new Big Bone Cave book to it's website this morning (May 8, 2006).
Big Bone Cave was the site of intense mining activity by prehistoric Americans for over 2,500 years. It was the largest saltpeter mine in America and was mined during both the War of 1812 and the Civil War.
Discoveries in the cave include Indian mummies, giant ground sloth skeletons, and an Ice-Age Jaguar skeleton.
This is a BIG book: 8.5 X 11 and 226 pages long with 103 illustrations. Many NSS members have contributed their time, expertise, and photographs to this book. Price for NSS members is $22, plus shipping.
