Is there any potential for caves in Laurel County? I have been offered the use of a property in the northern part of the county. I will probably use this as an occasional base for cave hunting in Jackson County, Rockcastle being, I believe, quite well scoured already. I read a KSS report that only 2 caves were reported in Laurel County, but I don't know if there is any geologic setting for more. If anyone knows much about the area, let me know.

Looks like a nice, long ridgewalk/riverwalk is in your future. Eastern bank of Rockcastle River, south of Route 25. Maybe you'll get lucky with some springs?

Yep, found that last night. I'll probably walk it later this winter, just in case.

Perhaps a summer ridgewalk would be more fruitful? If there are any cave entrances down there, airflow may be blowing in a more revealing direction that time of year.
