Want to do a Tumbling Rock AL trip...

Postby turbo641 » Jun 29, 2014 8:27 am

Hey guys,

I am completely new to the forums and caving.

I am going to be down in AL with family next week and the week after and I wanted to see if there was anybody doing any trips to Tumbling Rock around those times....My brother in law and I are new to caving so I felt doing the cave with someone who knows the turf would be a much better idea ;-)

Anyways any takers going already or want to go and organize something?

might want to check with the SCCi first. They had a little problem there a few weeks ago from what I understand and I believe they have changed access rules and/or are discussing changing the rules.

I think a sustained SCCi member must be present with the group at all times. It should be easy to find one on Cave Chat.

So is it not possible to become a life SCCI member? Also, is this policy for Tumbling Rock Cave that an SCCI member must be on the trip true for other SCCI caves if not all of them?

Does anyone have the contact info for Nathan Williams or Jay Clark since I heard they may be there to go into the cave when we go?

I dont remember the exact date but I went up with my son who was home on leave a couple weeks back and the gate was locked. It was the middle of a beautiful Sunday afternoon. No one in sight. Granted it was my mistake for not shooting an email before we went. Spent a little time in Limrock then drove 4 hours back home. Would love to know what happened.
