I recently bailed on a cave trip that we have done many times and many others have done this trip. This trip even felt better than other times in this cave but this was the first time we did a Naked Flame Test. It freaked me out when we couldn’t get three lighters to light. The CO2 meter pegged at over 1%.
In caves where you think the air is less than optimal do you do a Naked Flame Test and if you couldn’t get your lighter to light would you leave the cave?

Why risk it? When in doubt, get out!
