Since I work for ADT I drive a lot. The other day I went down Cecil Ashburn Drive in Huntsville, AL I found what seems to be a cave that drains water. I was wondering if this is really a cave and if anyone has any information on it?

That's Four Mile Post Cave. Not much to it. A single passage 60' long until it gets too low.

Ah OK thanks. Always wondered how big it was. Never had time to stop and look

Now when you say to low how low? Is it just high enough for water to come through or can you crawl it?

To be honest...I don't know. I have not stopped and gone inside. I got the info on length and passage size from the Alabama Cave Survey data and map. With its location and the number of cavers that have driven by it, I'm sure it's been looked at many, many times. Or has it......?

The map is showing the first twenty feet or so as 5 feet high in 2 feet of water and then it goes down to 2 feet high in 1 foot of water.

This reminds me of another rode side cave not too far away. If you were going east on I-24 you would see it on side of the highway. Somewhere close to Mt. Eagle. I actually stopped at it one day and climbed and went about 20 feet inside but I had somewhere I needed to be. This cave usually has water gushing out of it which goes into a drain and then under the highway. I have passed it before and saw it dry. Any info on this cave would be appriciated.

You talking about the cave I posted? I've never seen water coming out of it. But I guess it does since the city built that nice drain for it.
