Desoto State Park

Postby stx2006 » Oct 9, 2013 5:18 pm

I have been to the state park many times and been to the Desoto Falls and have always wondered if there is a cave behind the falls? It sure does look like it. But cant seem to find anything online to back it up. I did see some Nashville Grotto members there a few weeks ago.....

Can anyone tell me if there is a cave back there?

The only cave listed in the Alabama Cave Survey near Desoto Falls is Rock Cliff Cave and it is only 92 feet in length. There are trails that have signs for "Icebox Cave" and "Welch Caves" but they are rock shelters. There is no cave behind the falls.
