Rustoleum NeverWet

Postby iceclimb » Jul 18, 2013 12:34 pm

So.. rustoleum has a super hydrophobic coating for $20 that resists all stains and water. Has anyone tried coating coveralls with this and going caving?

If you can't wash the coveralls.. is it even possible to Decon them? Do they need Deconned? (spores wouldn't stick to the fabric right?)

Is this the best "Dry Coating" for my ice climbing ropes? Wonder how long it lasts.

Long term question.. depending upon how this breaks down and how long it lasts. What is the long term affect to an environment that becomes slowly filled with these hydrophilic nanoparticles. For example... if the soil in my town becomes contaminated with this, and I eat food that's grown there, does my internal system get coated with this, inhibiting absorption? Hmmm...

Their ad on TV shows it being used on bathroom/shower tile to change its appearance.
