Rustys Cave

Postby KWW » Jul 5, 2013 9:32 pm

I'm going to Rustys in the morning. The entrance is a little unclear on the SCCI map. What direction do I go after I drop into the entrance? Or is it obvious?

it's obvious. There is a little creek in the cave that you pretty much land in at the bottom of the drop.
The uphill part is pretty cool too, but the pretties are downhill.

That's what I wanted to know. Not being able to really tell where the entrance is on the map I figured I would have to choose to go left or right and I wanted to head toward Formation Hall. Unfortunately we ended up having to postpone this trip. It was to be my girlfriends first time on rope in cave and I didn't think she would enjoy it very much being beat on by the rain while trying to deal with obstacles during her descent.

Thanks graveleye!

I'm probably late this time but there is a map on the Kiosk of the property that tells how to get to the major caves on the property. Rustys is a beautifll cave.

Okay, definitely going to see Rusty's on Saturday finally. I have been wanting to see this cave since I heard about it. I had asked one of my grotto members about parking and crossing under the freeway the last time I planned this trip and received no response. My caving partner has emailed the property manager twice with the same questions. No response. If anyone could PM me with help with parking (as I understand that has changed somewhat recently), crossing the freeway and locating the kiosk, I would be greatly appreciative.... Thanks...

Thanks everybody for all the help! Excellent instructions, we had no troubles at all. What a job everyone did cleaning that place up after the tornadoes! It looks great! And we appreciate all the hard work.

Thanks Marty, I apologize for the mix up then. He must have an incorrect email address. I did think it was weird that he had no response after two tries. I'll find out what address he has been sending it to and get it straightened out. Thanks for your help!
