I will be done in Chattanooga this Thursday/Friday. Does anyone know if Stephens Gap is open? Is Milton Polsky still the contact person?

Yes Milton is still the contact person. But I believe its closed during hunting seasons. Turkey season is currently under way until the end of April.

It is a great pit. Rappel in and walk out since it has 2 entrances. I doubt many people bother to climb out.

There is even a short 3 drop multidrop that brings you out in the main pit ;)

I've been there multiple times. Every time I rappelled in I climbed out. If I put the gear on I'm gonna use it both ways. I did walk in and walk out a few times while waiting for others to climb. Once I walked in and climbed out.

it's less effort to climb out than it is to walk out.

I love the little mini through-trip, especially when you pop out into the big room at the bottom and there is the massive entrances before you. It's a beautiful sight.

In the main pit, I have never been past that big boulder. Isn't there more cave back there? I've seen a map but it's been a while.

Does anybody have any idea of the volume of water that will be flowing into the pit after all the rain they are calling for Thursday and Friday? In other words would it not be a great idea to bounce Stephens on Saturday?

I'd think it would be worth seeing. I'd also like to see Dry Creek after all this rain. The water literally shoots out of the cave.

I think it would be totally worth the hike to see it. I'm not 100% sure but I bet that dropping the Keyhole would keep you out of the water.
